Aunt L flew in from NC this past weekend to see her favorite nephew! It was a quick visit, but we squeezed in a lot..
She flew in Friday night and were picked up at the airport by a mutual friend, Dave Petrelli. I met them, along with Dave's gf Victoria, at a cute Mexican place in East Nashville called Rosepepper. Good thing Greg had stayed behind with Nate, b/c we had to wait 1.5 hrs for a table! The beer and margaritas kept us happy, and we enjoyed meeting & chatting with Dave's gf. She is a big-time songwriter and lots of stories...some about Jessica Simpson!
Saturday, after chowing down on Greg's french toast for breakfast, we all headed to the Greenway to soak up the beautiful weather. Nate had fun playing on the playground, preferring to go headfirst down the tunnel slide (Lora got some great pics - I will post them later). We took a walk, threw rocks in the river, talked to the geese, stood at the fence to stare at all the dogs in the Bark Park, and just had fun exploring. We rushed thru lunch when we got home, b/c Nate had an important date....it was Deedee's (my grandma's) birthday, and we had to Skype with her (and Nana & Pops & some other relatives, the Berlys) in order to say "Happy Birthday" in person. It went relatively well, considering there were about 5 people always talking at the same time.
Lora and I got in some good sister time (aka shopping!) while Nate napped, and then we all took Nate outside to play once naptime was over. We blew/caught bubbles with our neighbor, Cam, and took a walk with Nate in his wagon too. Greg cooked up another great meal for dinner - chicken stirfry, rolls, "good" wine, and cake. And then, kinda last minute, Greg and I decided to go to a neighborhood birthday party. We went at 9 pm and didn't plan on staying past 10, but after a few jello shots and other drinks, that quickly turned into midnight. Thank goodness we had a good babysitter home with Nate!! We had a great time at the party and learned a lot...maybe too much!...about some of our neighbors.
Aunt L had to leave before lunch on Sunday to head home, so it was a short visit but a good one. Nate enjoyed doing some new "tricks" - including his headstand/forward rolls from gymnastics, as well as lots of "dancing." That boy loves to dance! And, he was fascinated with Aunt L's hairdryer...dragged it around everywhere when we were upstairs. And he was pretty inseparable with her camera case and nalgene water bottle too. The things this kid likes!!
Anyways, we had a great visit with Lora and hope she comes back soon to the 'Boro! Love you sis!
