Snow Day

We finally got a substantial amount of snow! About 4 inches total I think. It fell thru the day yesterday and was so pretty! And then last night, it was topped off with sleet, which made the roads pretty treacherous today. We did manage to get outside this afternoon to play, but only for about 15 minutes....Nate was NOT a fan of the cold temps, nor did he like the wind. And he didn't so much "play" outside as he did just walk around a little with our neighbors and want us to pick him up. So much for a snow day! Nonetheless, I still managed to get a few good pics...

And of course, what snow day is complete without a cup of hot chocolate??? But then Mr. Independent decided he wanted his marshmellows BESIDE his hot chocolate instead of INSIDE. Whatever makes you happy, weirdo! :)

If You're Happy & You Know It...

Abby is 11 weeks old today! And she has been FULL of smiles this past week. But don't take my word for it...take a look below at her huge grin. I love it!!

Abby has been quite a trooper this week, and endured her first few days of sleep training (aka "Boot Camp"). She is doing great and I am happy to say, sleeping thru the night! Who knows if this will continue, but for now, it is nice!! Greg gives her her last bottle at 11 pm, and then I dont have to wake up and nurse her till 6:30 am. We are so proud of our little baby girl!

Because of her new schedule, she is awake much more during the day and sometimes it is a struggle to keep her up! But, at the same time, we are beginning to see a new side of her during all this "playtime"...she loves to kick her legs and smile and watch her big bro's every move. We love our baby girl!!

10 wks old already?!

I can't believe Abby is already 10 weeks old...it seems like we just brought her home from the hospital last week! I remember being afraid to change her diaper b/c her legs were sooooo tiny & skinny. I thought any false move and I'd break off one of her delicate limbs. Well, I'm happy to report, I am no longer scared. And that's b/c Little Miss Priss is becoming quite the chunker! She has rolls on her upper thighs (LOVE THOSE), a cute potbelly, and of course, the infamous Gibbs double chin(s). We even had to put away some of her newborn and 0-3 month sized clothes this week, and move into 3-6 month sizes. Crazy!

The big news of the week was that we FINALLY captured one of her smiles on the camera. She has been smiling for weeks, but we were just never able to time it right. Well, luckily, she loves smiling at her Daddy and right after one feeding the other morning we got some good shots. Here is my fave:

She is still sleeping pretty well and stretching out her feedings at night (5-6 hrs), and napping & eating pretty well during the day too (every 3-4 hrs). One thing she is NOT doing well is napping in the afternoons....I don't know what it is, but she just does not want to nap after her 2 afternoon feedings. And wouldn't you know it, that's my only time for peace & quiet, during Nate's one 1.5 hr nap. (Secretly, I think she knows this and is plotting against me already. Ha!) We are having her nap/sleep in her crib upstairs more, so we're finally getting good use out of our fancy shmancy video monitor. LOVE THAT!! She has been going through a growth spurt this last week and eating like a HOSS....we even had to up one of her night bottles to 5 ounces!! Nursing is going well but she is just sooo s-l-o-w. Some feedings this week have taken upwards of an hour! Poor Nate has watched a LOT of TV during this time. (Not that's he's complaining...he is obsessed with his new Elmo Potty Time dvd from Santa!) :)

Here's some more pics from this week...had to include some of Big Brother as well. He is just too cute for words sometimes!!

Nate loves holding Abby, but only for about 10 seconds. Then he holds out his arms and says, "All done."

Of course Nate had to get in on the action. This is his new thing....closing his eyes and MAJORLY cheesin' for the camera!

Bounce with me, bounce with me

We went to Bounce U yesterday and had a ball! We met up with 4 of my "Mommy friends" and their kids...each of them has a boy btw the ages of 16-27 months. And of course Abby was there but slept in her stroller the WHOLE time! :)

Bounce U is like an indoor inflatable playground...picture huge slides, bouncy castles, etc. I had taken Nate there once before, about a year ago, and he was pretty hesitant on everything. Not so much anymore! He liked the slides the best, and then one of the castles where you get to jump around AND shoot basketballs into hoops (of course I had to help him slam dunk)! Actually, I'm not sure who had more fun at this place....the boys or the moms!

(Pardon the fuzziness on some of the pics; the slides were FAST and it was hard to get a good shot.)

Me & Nate before going down our first slide...little did I know that I would fall flat on my back at the end of it!! It really hurt! But luckily Nate didn't get hurt. The moms that followed me figured out if you went down the slide with your legs against the sides, it would slow you down enough to where you wouldn't bust your butt like me. Man, I love being the guinea pig!

Weekly update

Abby is 9 wks old today! She missed her big bro last week, and is glad everything is back to normal (and she's not the only one!) :)

Her new "trick" these days - thanks to her Daddy - is trying to stand up. Seriously, we hold her arms up and she pushes up on her legs. No way was Nate doing that at 9 wks! This little girl is a feisty one.

Also, Abby experienced her first snow this week. Now, I use the term "snow" very loosely, because I don't think it was more than a half inch. An inch tops. We dressed her up and she was outside a total of 5 seconds. HATED the cold/wind in her face. So much for being a snow bunny!

How can I resist!?

Let me share what my sweet boy just said to me...

We were on the bed, and I had just finished nursing Abby. I put her down to play on the playmat, and Nate saw his chance to have "mommy time." So he looked at me, grabbed my hand, and said "Snuggle Nate?" My heart melted! And of course I seized the opportunity and snuggled him (as we watched Handy Manny).

Could he be any sweeter!?

He's back!!

Nate made it back safely from Johnson City this afternoon, with a tired Mum Mum in tow :) He is happy to be home, to say the least. He has been running laps around the house, and running Greg ragged tonight with all his "horseplay." He did have a great visit with his grandparents though, and they said he hardly acted like he missed us at all! Here are some of the highlights of his trip:

-Playing at the Hands On Museum in the fort and going down the two-story slide
-Seeing his first movie!! He chowed down on popcorn and loved every minute of "Alvin & the Chipmunks" (except for the extra loud previews)
-Learning the cities where all of his relatives live
-Learning the word "stupid" (Thanks Stan!)
-Putting HIMSELF in time out by the front door (man, I have trained him well!)
-Having the dvd player, cd player, and sound machine at his fingertips to play with
-Napping with Granddaddy in the red recliner
-Going to Chuck-E-Cheese
-Eating lots of Granddaddy's good food...especially all the meat: tuna, meatloaf, pork
-Playing with Kevin's old gripper toy (aka "the broom")
-Exploring around the house & pulling out every single drawer

Of course we missed him terribly, and every night after we talked to him on the phone or skyped with him, I teared up. There's nothing like hearing your little boy say "Love you Mommy!" and not being able to hug him :( But at the same time, we are grateful that he got to spend this time with his grandparents, and had such a blast doing so. And, it was nice for me & Greg to get some quality time with each other, and with our little girl!! It sure has been quiet around here though. (Remind me of all this in 2 days when I'm pulling my hair out again please!) :)

Anyways, he had a great trip and we are glad to have our boy home. This has been good for all of us though....a much needed break for me & Greg, as well as good QT for Nate with his grandparents. We will surely do it again!! Thank you Joyce & Stan!!

Putting on the LB's

We took Miss Priss in for her 2 month appt today and here are her (unbelievable!) stats:

Weight: 9 lbs 4 oz
Length: 21 1/4 inches

I was completely shocked at her weight!!! I was thinking she'd be in the mid-8 lb range. Not so much! My little piglet gained more than an ounce a day this past month!! (She was 7 lbs 7 oz on 12/10). Craziness. And what's more...she jumped from the 10th percentile to the 25th percentile for her weight! Now, she's still in the 15th percentile for length, but I'm okay with that...she's probably just going to be a shrimp like her Momma :)

Anyways, the rest of the check-up went well..."she looks perfect" the doc said...and Abby handled her 2 shots like a big girl! She is one little tough cookie for sure!

Eight is great!

Abby Reece is 8 wks old today! We have her doctor's appt on Thursday and I am SUPER anxious to see how much she weighs. NOT looking forward to hearing her scream after she gets shots though :(

She is getting more and more vocal as the days go on....definitely lets us know when she wants something. That's a girl for ya I guess! She is starting to stretch out her nights better...consistently going 4-5 hrs btw feedings. (Just b/c I said that, I'm sure tonight she'll be awful.)

She is officially despoiled from all the visitors we had over the holidays. And by despoiled, I mean that she will sleep somewhere OTHER than someone's chest. It was a rough few days! She is liking her crib more and more, and we will make the transition to moving her up to her room permanently pretty soon. (We moved Nate at 2 months, but b/c she's still so little, we might wait another few weeks. We'll see what the doc says.)

And as for her big brother....well, he is into all things "baby" this week. He likes to lay in her boppy, play in her carseat, and lay on her playmat. We think it's funny for now, and are crossing our fingers it's just a phase. He still is super sweet to his baby sister and loves kissing on her and wiggling her legs to "make her dance." He's also started calling her "Abby Weece" instead of "Baby Abby," which I think is adorable!

Chuck-E-Cheese

We had a fun family outing today at Chuck-E-Cheese!! Nate ran right in and started jumping on all the riding cars. He loved having his picture taken with "Chuck-E" and has carried it around ever since we got home. I actually think he is upstairs napping with it right now.

His favorite part was taking the "money" (tokens) and putting them in all the machines/rides. He didn't quite understand that once you put the money in, you have to play the game or ride the ride. He just ran from machine to machine for awhile! Until he found Bob the Builder....wow, I think he used half of his tokens riding that one. He was too cute!

And surprisingly enough, he wasn't scared of the big, robotic Chuck-E that dances on stage! He loved dancing & singing with him, especially when "Twinkle Twinkle" came on. I can't wait to have a bday party for him there one day. Maybe when he's about 4 though...we spent most of our time in the "Toddler Zone" and there were only about 5 rides. The other ones out in the main area were a little too old for him. Regardless, we had a ball! And Miss Abby slept thru the thing, so she was easy as pie!

(I call this one "The blind leading the blind"):

We ended our visit with pizza & cokes...for the first time, we didn't cut up his pizza and he ate a slice like a big boy! It was too cute; he was so proud. We love our little man and doing fun things like this with him as he gets older. He is growing up a little too fast for my taste though!!

We won a whopping total of 16 tickets, so on our way out, Nate got to pick out a prize. Of course he picked the candy... a mini-tootsie roll pop, which he appropriately renamed a "Chuck E Cheese dum-dum."
