Beach Bums

We had another fun-filled beach week with my family in N. Litchfield Beach, SC! This was the first time Greg got to stay the whole week, and the first time Abby got to experience the ocean & beach!! Not surprisingly, she LOVED it – much more so than Nate ever has. But to his credit, he was very brave this year and went in the ocean a lot, didn’t care when his hands were sandy, and loved playing on the beach. Finally, we have 2 beach bums!!

Things I will remember from this past week:
• Being with my whole family, all at the same time, all in the same place. Lots of talking, laughter, eating & drinking. It’s what we do best!
• Watching Nate JUMP into the pool – unprovoked. He LOVED floating and “swimming” around in his intertube without any help

• Abby & Nate’s 1st bath together - both cried when it was over!
• Nate talking obsessively about his trip to the carwash with Poppy
• Abby falling asleep in Nana’s arms while in the ocean. Talk about being relaxed!
• Having the BEST ever homemade ice cream – peach & strawberry – at the fruit stand on the way to the beach
• Building drip castles with Abby

• Watching Nate’s head bob as he slept in the car for an HOUR. This is major people – he never naps in the car anymore!!
• My two boys having a “sleepover” each night in their room with twin beds
• Watching Nana “in her element” at the Aquarium with Nate, teaching him about each of the 10,000 fish there!

• All of Nate’s catchphrases….Later Gater, Back in a Flash, Okey Dokey Smokey, That’s a plan man!
• 3 Buzz Lightyear toys – To Infinity & Beyond!!
• Visiting with family & friends: the Berlys, Ervins, and one of my college roomies/BFFs – Becca!!

• Having alone time on the beach with Greg….taking a walk with him, reading our books, and watching him “catch some waves” on the boogie board. Who knew a 32-year-old professor could still act like an adorable 10 year old kid!?
• Watching Abby have her first lick of ice cream. Yes, she was a huge fan!
• Abby WAVING for the first time (to Aunt Becky)! And contrary to what Aunt Lora thinks, it was NOT a fluke. B/c she did it a 2nd time. (But of course she hasn’t done it since!)
• Watching Nate play Ladder Golf on the beach, by himself, and counting to 20 before he threw it each time

• Tidal pools
• Early morning runs – almost everyone went at one time or another. Crazy Gibbs!
• Watching Nate fly kites with Greg & Poppy

The Gibbs Family Beach Trip of 2010 was officially a success!! I feel so fortunate to have a special place where we can have this annual trip…I’ve been going there since I was a little girl, and have made so many wonderful memories. And nothing makes me happier than knowing my kids get to make their own memories there now!

Who Knew!?

Who would have guessed that my 7 month old would enjoy a baby pool more than my (almost) 3 yr old!??! Well, that was the case yesterday, as we got out the baby pool for the first time this summer.

Abby was a bit weary at first...

But quickly warmed up to it!

She loved leaning against the pool and "lounging"

And chillin' with our neighbor, Mallory

Abby stayed in the pool almost 30 minutes and didn't fuss once. And oh yeah, Nate didn't get in one time; just ran around in the yard instead. Go figure!

Moving On

Isn't it funny how kids go thru phases and get totally obsessed with a certain thing/character??? We have gone thru many of these, since Nate was about 1. First, it was Elmo & Sesame Street characters. That one lasted a while. Thru his 2nd bday actually. Then we moved on (just in time for Xmas) to Handy Manny. Then there was a brief stint with Bob the Builder. These days, we are into Diego & Dora, as well as TOY STORY. Yes, I'd say his bday party in August is going to be Toy Story-themed.

Wonder what will be next???

7 Months

Baby Girl is 7 MONTHS OLD today and I can hardly believe it!!! She is such a feisty little thing, but a sweet one too. She has grown so much this month and tried so many new things....she loves to sit up now (and jump in her jumperoo still), she loves ALL foods (more on that later), and her new obsession is blowing bubbles. Now at first this was cute, and even funny b/c it sounded like a farting noise. Now, she does this at every meal when I'm trying to feed her. Translation: I get sprayed with cereal & veggies 3x/day. Awesome. She is super ticklish and loves to laugh with her Daddy & brother. Well actually she just laughs at everyone....she is one happy baby and I love that big toothless grin. No teeth yet but I swear she is working on one. Has had fever, fussiness, not taking the bottle well, and pooping issues....so to me that is teething. Stay tuned on that.

We moved Miss Priss to the highchair last week and she LOVES it. I think she thinks she is the Queen Bee sitting up that high. (And Nate loves being a big boy and sitting at the table with us in his booster seat. When did he get so old!? Ahh!) Abby has mastered all of the yellow/orange veggies, and we just recently started green veggies. Of course every single fruit so far has been a hit too. Did I mention this girl likes to grub!?

Moving into 9M sized clothes now...this one is courtesy of Nanny, and one of my new faves

LOVE those baby blue eyes! And she's now gnawing on these mesh feeder bags (filled with ice chips) to soothe her gums/fussiness. It's also nice to give her when we're outside and she's starting to get overheated. What a snack....ICE.

Having a gigglefest with her new bud, Daddy

1st green veggie - peas

Please look at her mini-skirt!!! (and don't mind the drool stain)

My little duck with her blonde mohawk & halter dress!

And of course, can't leave out Big Brother. He is loving the sprinkler these days!

The lovebirds taking a rest after sprinkler fun

My sweet angel boy....he has been more cuddly with me than usual and I am loving it!

Happy 6th anniversary to my handsome hubbie!!!

Who knew when we started dating (almost) 11 years ago, that we'd end up here! I love you and all the things that make you "you"....You're quirky, passionate, opinionated, intelligent, hilarious, loving, and hard-working. You're everything I've ever wanted. Here's to many more years of happiness!

Water Boy

Last week, Nate had a ball over at Grant's house in his baby pool! I have never seen him so happy to splash and kick and be soaking wet!!

Please, is this the cutest picture ever or what!?

Nothing sweeter than 2 boys hugging!

And here was Abby, cracking up at Grant! Too cute!
