Lovin' on Nana

Nana's spring break was this past week, so she came to visit her favorite grandson, from Tuesday-Friday. We had a fun-filled week and luckily, gorgeous weather for most of the time!

Tuesday morning, after picking Nana up from the airport, we headed straight to Opry Mills for some outlet shopping! Nate got 2 new pairs of shoes at Stride Rite - sneakers & leather sandals! He enjoyed posing in front of the mirror and throwing/bouncing the shoes around the store. And because I tried my hardest to restrain Nana, she only bought a few items of clothing for Nate. His favorite part of the morning was riding in the quarter-operated cars & trucks. We could hardly tear him away from them! We ate lunch at the food court, and I rode the merry-go-round with Nate afterwards. He liked it at first, and then his smile slowly turned into a grimace as it kept going on and on and on. We both got pretty dizzy! He had fun in the backseat with Nana on the way home to the 'Boro, as he tried to make every big truck "honk" at us. Too cute! We played outside after his nap, and then Nana got some good cuddle time in while Nate watched Elmo before dinner. He is obsessed with "Mo!" He also decided to steal Nana's dollar-store reading glasses, and wore them all over the house. He looked like a total nerd, but it was super cute too! :) And perhaps his favorite part of the day was playing with his new flashlight from Nana! Who would have thought a toy flashlight could bring such pleasure!?

Wednesday was a big day. We headed to the Nashville Zoo for the first time! I don't know who was more excited....Nate or Nana! We saw all types of monkeys, tigers, macaws, meerkats, turtles, leopards, fish, goats, zebras, ostriches, storks, alligators, and anteaters (to name a few) :) Nate enjoyed all the animals & sounds, but did NOT like getting in & out of his stroller 90 times. Once we gave him the map to be our "navigator," that helped! He had fun running/racing hand-in-hand with Nana, playing on the swings & slide, and showing off his "ski arms." He is a ham!! We opted to leave the zoo and eat lunch at a nearby McDonald's for lunch. Nate wasn't crazy about his happy meal, until Nana showed him how to dip his apple slices into the caramel. OH BOY. Then, in went the fries & burger & bun! Nasty!! He had a ball though. During most of his nap, Nana helped me put the 1st coat of paint on our bonus room - a really pretty smoky gray/blue. I love it! While I was finishing up, Nate & Nana played with the bubble machine, fed the birds crackers, and used the (play) chainsaw to cut down bushes. He is quite the busybody!

Thursday was Nana's birthday! My present to her was letting her watch Nate all day, while I painted a 2nd coat! :) Nana brought a present for Nate open, even though it was HER bday - a shopping cart with food! Too cute!! They ventured off to the Discovery Center that morning, where Nate went wild....he dug through rocks, played with turtles, fire engine, water fountain, made funny faces & poses in the mirror, shopped at the farmer's market, and "cooked" in the kitchen. He could stay at the Discovery Center all day - so much to do! It was a stormy afternoon, so after Nate's long nap, we stayed inside to play and once again, cuddled during Elmo. We had Nana's bday dinner that night - yummy Pei Wei and Snickers ice cream cake!

Friday morning, our little hoss ate 2 Eggo waffles before heading with Nana & Dad to the airport. He enjoyed one last playtime with Nana in the backseat! We were all sorry to see Nana go!

It's a good thing Nana has a lot of energy. Just reading the post wore me out :) I wonder what she will do when she has additional grandkids...
