We had another fun-filled beach week with my family in N. Litchfield Beach, SC! This was the first time Greg got to stay the whole week, and the first time Abby got to experience the ocean & beach!! Not surprisingly, she LOVED it – much more so than Nate ever has. But to his credit, he was very brave this year and went in the ocean a lot, didn’t care when his hands were sandy, and loved playing on the beach. Finally, we have 2 beach bums!!
Things I will remember from this past week:
• Being with my whole family, all at the same time, all in the same place. Lots of talking, laughter, eating & drinking. It’s what we do best!
• Watching Nate JUMP into the pool – unprovoked. He LOVED floating and “swimming” around in his intertube without any help
• Abby & Nate’s 1st bath together - both cried when it was over!
• Nate talking obsessively about his trip to the carwash with Poppy
• Abby falling asleep in Nana’s arms while in the ocean. Talk about being relaxed!
• Having the BEST ever homemade ice cream – peach & strawberry – at the fruit stand on the way to the beach
• Building drip castles with Abby
• Watching Nate’s head bob as he slept in the car for an HOUR. This is major people – he never naps in the car anymore!!
• My two boys having a “sleepover” each night in their room with twin beds
• Watching Nana “in her element” at the Aquarium with Nate, teaching him about each of the 10,000 fish there!
• All of Nate’s catchphrases….Later Gater, Back in a Flash, Okey Dokey Smokey, That’s a plan man!
• 3 Buzz Lightyear toys – To Infinity & Beyond!!
• Visiting with family & friends: the Berlys, Ervins, and one of my college roomies/BFFs – Becca!!
• Having alone time on the beach with Greg….taking a walk with him, reading our books, and watching him “catch some waves” on the boogie board. Who knew a 32-year-old professor could still act like an adorable 10 year old kid!?
• Watching Abby have her first lick of ice cream. Yes, she was a huge fan!
• Abby WAVING for the first time (to Aunt Becky)! And contrary to what Aunt Lora thinks, it was NOT a fluke. B/c she did it a 2nd time. (But of course she hasn’t done it since!)
• Watching Nate play Ladder Golf on the beach, by himself, and counting to 20 before he threw it each time
• Tidal pools
• Early morning runs – almost everyone went at one time or another. Crazy Gibbs!
• Watching Nate fly kites with Greg & Poppy
The Gibbs Family Beach Trip of 2010 was officially a success!! I feel so fortunate to have a special place where we can have this annual trip…I’ve been going there since I was a little girl, and have made so many wonderful memories. And nothing makes me happier than knowing my kids get to make their own memories there now!

I had such a wonderful time with my fqmily. It is the highlight of the year! One thing that needs to be added to the "Remember list" is Abby falling asleep While in the ocean, Talk about relaxed!
Awww.. looks like such a great trip!!! Cant wait to hear more about it! Oh and yes.. yall are crazy.. who works out on vacation?!!! hahahaha
Great pictures and post. I can not believe Abby waved to Aunt Becky! Nate's catch phrases are hilarious. Em, looking hot in your swimsuit!!!
looks like so much fun!!! i think we should coordinate our family beach trips to be the same week :). next year we'll have a beach babe too, eek! and fun. glad the kiddies liked the water!
