What a weekend we had in NY!! Greg's college roommate, Ted, got married in Roslyn, NY on Friday and we extended our getaway to Thursday-Sunday. So nice! New York was sunny, 75, breezy, and best of all...didn't have cicadas! (In other words = heaven.) We strolled around Roslyn (it's a small town) after checking into the hotel Thurs. And then - alert the presses - I actually took a nap (!) while Greg worked on his speech for the rehearsal dinner that night. It was so nice to have no schedule, and to have my biggest worry be when I needed to shower & fix my hair in order to be ready for festivities! The rehearsal went smoothly and then the rehearsal dinner was so much fun! Was at a little Italian place a block away from the church. We got seated with 2 bridesmaids & 1 other groomsmen (all current New Yorkers, who absolutely thought MY accent was hilarious)! Ted & Erica sat at our table as well, and I had fun teaching 5 Yankees how to say "ya'll."
Here is the bride & groom to be, wearing Erica's ribbon bouquet:

Ted gave all the groomsmen a specialized jersey for their gift. Some guys got hockey, others got baseball or football. Ted originally was going to get Greg a San Antonio Spurs jersey (Tim Duncan) but then went for ROLL TIDE instead and got a Namath one. Greg will for sure get some high-fives at Alabama games this fall when he wears it!

Friday, we got to SLEEP IN and then both took turns working out at the hotel's "fitness center"...it was pretty lame but at least we both got to break a sweat. Greg left at 11 am with all the groomsmen, dressed very handsomely in all their tuxes. And I had a free day with other friends in town! It was a mixture of family (my sister Lora), as well as my friends from high school (Zach, Erin, Alex, Justin) & their significant others. So fun! Lora & John arrived first, and we grabbed Robin and promptly walked down to a cute Mexican place to eat, drink, and wait on everyone else to arrive. Slowly they all poured in, and it was so good to see everyone and chat! I hadn't seen some of them since Erin's wedding back in August 2008. So, 2.5 hrs and $275 later, we were all caught up and headed back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding.
Here is a shot of Mike & Alex (who currently live in D.C), and our "ghetto" phones that we love!

The wedding took place in Erica's parents' home church in Great Neck. It was a traditional Catholic mass & such a beautiful old church. The reception had THE best cocktail hour ever - such good food! - and then the bridal party came in dancing when it was their turn to be announced.
Check out my handsome hubbie doing a jig!

The rest of the night was filled with lots of eating, drinking, dancing, and laughing. Once I finally kicked off my heels (literally), Greg and I had SO much fun dancing & being silly (and no we had not consumed too many beverages). It was just nice to feel like "Em & Greg" again, and dance the night away like we were college again. It truly was one of the best weddings I've ever been to.

Erin & Sameer have a 6 month old who doesn't love sleeping, so they have to catch a little shut-eye wherever they can! :)
Here's the "boys": Zach, Justin, Greg, & Ted. How crazy is this...I went to high school with Zach & Justin, and Greg was best buds with Justin & Ted in college. Random!
Saturday after brunch, we headed into the city with Z, Justin, and their wives. We cruised around Central Park for awhile, and then split off after grabbing a quick lunch (yummy hot dogs)! Greg & I just strolled around the park -which is massive btw, in fact we got a little lost one time. Again, so nice to just be able to be together with no plan or schedule.

That night we had our anniversary date night - dinner & a Broadway show!! Ted & Erica had both recommended an Italian place called Becco, and it did not disappoint! I got the (heavily suggested from Erica) meal of "endless pasta" and Greg had some type of steak with the pasta as well. The tables were super close together, and we ended up chatting with the older couple next to us...."true New Yorkers" if you will. They were hilarious, especially when they found out we were from TN. They looked at us as if we were from another country! Let's just say Greg and "David the Jew" had very interesting conversation!!
Then onto Broadway....we sat down literally 30 seconds before the curtain rose & the show started. I can't say enough about Wicked....it was just breathtaking....the singing, dancing, costumes, scenery...we loved it all! The only bad part is that we were exhausted from all the late nights, so when the play ended 3 hrs later, we were spent!

We walked back to the hotel for a quick sleep & then got up at 5 am to catch our car service and an early flight home. All in all....a WONDERFUL trip & I was so grateful to have that time away with Greg. A big thanks to Aunt Bebe, Nanny, & Poppy for taking such good care of the kids! (We're gonna have to have a talk about all these new toys though.... :)
